VISUAL ART PROJECTS

Why do images affect us? Why do some affect us more than others? How do photographers manage to play with viewers' feelings? These are some of the questions raised in the projects below.

État(s) d'urgence

Etat(s) d'urgence is a photographic portfolio shot in Paris in the months following the terrorist attacks of 13. November 2015. The images were taken during rush hours in the Parisian metro network. (In collaboration with Elisabeth Krecké)

War Pictures of a war that did not take place
(2047)

The 2047 portfolio is part of a larger documentary project titled War pictures of a war that did not take place. The purpose is to explore past and present genre codes of war photography.

The images were shot in 2014 in the abandoned military structures in the area of Cabo Prior, Ferrol.

Fictitious photographs
(digitized drawings)

The images result from a combination of photo-realistic pencil drawing and electronic image editing. Nothing is photographed, however, and photography is not involved in any of the various editing stages.

This work was realized between 2000 and 2006, in collaboration with Elisabeth Krecké.

Stills from non-existing movies
(digitised drawings)

Some of the "fake photographs" of the Stills from non-existing movies series feature existing film stars (Isabelle Adjani, Donald Sutherland, Terence Stamp...) in movies that were never made. Others evoke fake celebrities, who just seem familiar to anyone used to the stereotypes of cinema or pop culture.
